For Cafes & Coffee Shops
Time tracking built for any cafe
Open at 5, close at 6, weekend baristas every Saturday — Punch fits the rhythm of the shop. Geofenced punch-in at every location, FLSA-compliant overtime, weekly or bi-weekly pay periods. Works alongside your POS — Punch handles the labor, your register handles the drinks.

Why cafes overpay for time tracking
Most time-tracking apps charge per employee per month. A four-barista cafe pays for four seats every month — even on the Tuesday after a holiday weekend when only one barista is on. Hire a weekend hand for the summer rush, the bill goes up. Add a second shop, the bill goes up again. Some apps stack a per-location surcharge on top. The math punishes the indie shop that's just trying to keep the line moving.
Punch charges per organization, not per employee or per shop. Owners are always free, and your whole team — across every shop — runs on one bill. Crew tier (up to 5 employees) is $9.99 a month — a strong fit for the typical single-shop indie cafe. Team tier (up to 10) is $19.99. Company tier (up to 20) is $34.99. Same flat price whether you run one espresso bar or a three-shop neighborhood roaster.
Punch handles time and pay. Your POS handles tickets, tips, and inventory. The two work side by side — Punch exports weekly or bi-weekly hours as Excel so your existing payroll process keeps working, whether that's a payroll provider, your bookkeeper, or a spreadsheet you've kept for years.
What you get
One subscription, every shop
Punch charges per organization, not per shop or per barista. Owners never count against your seat cap. A four-barista crew pays for four seats whether they work one location or three. No per-shop fees, no per-employee surcharges, no surprise upgrades when you take on a Saturday hand.
Geofenced punch-in at every location
Set each shop's address as its own work area, with its own radius — 165 feet covers most cafe footprints comfortably. Baristas have to be on-premises at the right shop to punch in. Location is captured once at the moment of punch — no continuous tracking, no background location reads.
Open shifts, close shifts, weekend shifts
Cafe scheduling has its own rhythm — Mary opens Monday-Wednesday at 5 AM, Jake closes those same days, Sarah covers weekends. Each shift is its own punch; no need to wrestle with rigid timeclock software designed for 9-to-5 office work. If a barista opens and comes back for close on the same day, an owner can split that long day into two entries via the split-shift workflow for accurate hour-tracking.
FLSA-compliant overtime
Over 40 hours per week at 1.5× by default. California preset adds the 8-hour daily threshold (1.5×) and the 12-hour daily double-time threshold (2×). Custom thresholds available if your state has its own.
Weekly or bi-weekly pay periods
Mark a period paid, export the hours, and the cycle closes. Bi-weekly orgs see two-week summaries with per-workweek FLSA OT calculated correctly underneath; weekly orgs see one. Your payroll cycle, your call.
Universal iPhone, iPad, and web
Baristas punch in from the iPhone in their apron pocket. Manager approves the week from the iPad behind the counter. Owner runs payroll from the laptop in the back. Same data, every device, same subscription.
Built for
Single-shop indie cafes
Two-to-six baristas, one shop, weekly pay. Geofence keeps clock-ins honest at the shop. Manager approves the week, exports the timesheet, drops it into the bookkeeper's inbox. Crew tier ($9.99/mo) covers the typical setup.
Small multi-shop operators
Two-to-four shops under one brand, total team eight-to-twenty across all locations. Each shop is a job site with its own address and geofence. Owner sees the whole portfolio; shop managers see their own location. Per-organization pricing means one subscription covers every location at the same flat tier price as a single-shop operator.
Coffee roasters with retail
Mixed wholesale-roastery + retail-cafe ops with separate crews. Roasters punch into the roastery, baristas punch into the cafe — each crew has its own geofence and its own shift pattern. Owner sees both sides on the same dashboard, exports the combined timesheet for payroll, keeps the books on one bill.
FAQ
Questions, answered.
- Does Punch handle tip jars or tip pooling?
- No. Punch tracks hours and computes gross pay at the barista's rate. Tip handling — counter jars, credit-card tips, tip-out splits — stays with your POS or the manual cash-up process you already run.
- Will Punch work with my POS?
- Yes. Punch runs alongside Square, Toast, Clover, or whichever POS you use without competing for the same data. Punch tracks the labor side (time + pay + overtime); your POS tracks the drink side (tickets + tips + inventory). Export weekly or bi-weekly hours as Excel and drop them into your payroll system or hand them to your bookkeeper.
- How does Punch handle weekend-only baristas?
- Same as everyone else — they punch in when they're on, punch out when they're off. Hours accrue toward the same weekly or bi-weekly pay period. Per-organization pricing means a part-time weekend barista counts toward your tier's seat cap but doesn't cost extra on top of the flat monthly price.
- How does pricing work?
- Punch charges per organization, not per employee or per shop. One subscription covers every location. Crew tier (up to 5 employees, owner free) is $9.99 a month — a strong fit for the typical indie cafe. Team tier (up to 10) is $19.99. Company tier (up to 20) is $34.99. Premier (up to 50) is $69.99. Scale (up to 100) is $129.99. The full grid lives on the pricing page. Annual plans save about two months.
- Can I try Punch before paying?
- Yes. Every new cafe org gets a 14-day free trial automatically — no card required, no sales call. Create your org on the web or in the iOS app, add your shop's address, invite your manager, and you're punching in within a couple minutes. After 14 days, pick a monthly or annual plan or cancel.
