For Office Staff
Time tracking for the people who keep the office running
Admin assistants, receptionists, billing clerks, paralegals, dental front desk — the hourly W-2 staff that actually runs the place. Geofenced punch-in at every office, FLSA-compliant overtime, weekly or bi-weekly pay periods. One flat tier covers your whole back office.

Why small offices overpay for time tracking
Most time-tracking apps charge per employee per month. A small office with a receptionist, two billing clerks, and a part-time admin pays for four seats every month — and the cost scales linearly when you bring on a paralegal for a busy quarter. Some apps stack a per-location surcharge on top when you open a second office. The math punishes the small operation that's already running lean.
Punch charges per organization, not per employee or per location. Owners are always free, and your whole hourly back-office team runs on one bill. Crew tier (up to 5 employees) is $9.99 a month — a strong fit for the typical small-business office. Team tier (up to 10) is $19.99. Company tier (up to 20) is $34.99. Same flat price whether you run one office or three.
Punch handles time and pay for hourly W-2 staff. Your HR system handles benefits and onboarding, your accountant handles payroll runs, your billing software handles client invoicing. Punch stays in its lane — captures clock-in / clock-out, computes FLSA overtime, exports weekly or bi-weekly hours as Excel so your existing payroll process keeps working.
What you get
One subscription, every office
Punch charges per organization, not per desk or per employee. Owners never count against your seat cap. A five-person office team pays for five seats whether they work at one location or three. No per-office fees, no per-employee surcharges, no surprise upgrades when you hire a part-time assistant.
Geofenced punch-in at every office
Set each office's address as its own work area, with its own radius. Staff have to be on-premises to punch in — useful for offices that want to keep punch honesty tied to physical presence (a dental office, a small law firm, a property management front desk). Location is captured once at the moment of punch — no continuous tracking, no background reads.
Hourly tracking, not project tracking
Punch is shift-based: clock in at start, out at end, lunch in the middle. It is not a billable-hours / project-time tool. If you need to attribute time to specific client matters or projects, keep your existing project tracker (Harvest, Toggl, Clockify, your billing software's time module) — Punch tracks the labor + payroll side, your project tool tracks the billing side.
FLSA-compliant overtime
Over 40 hours per week at 1.5× by default. California preset adds the 8-hour daily threshold (1.5×) and the 12-hour daily double-time threshold (2×). Custom thresholds available if your state has its own.
Weekly or bi-weekly pay periods
Mark a period paid, export the hours, and the cycle closes. Bi-weekly orgs see two-week summaries with per-workweek FLSA OT calculated correctly underneath; weekly orgs see one. Your payroll cycle, your call.
Universal iPhone, iPad, and web
Staff punch in from the iPhone in their bag, the iPad at the front desk, or the web on their workstation — same data, every device, same subscription. The office manager approves the week from wherever they are; the owner runs payroll from the back office or from home.
Built for
Small business back-office
Three-to-ten hourly W-2 employees at a small firm or shop — receptionist, billing clerk, admin assistant, office manager. Single location, weekly or bi-weekly pay. Geofence keeps the punches tied to the office, owner exports the timesheet for the bookkeeper. Crew tier ($9.99/mo) covers the typical setup.
Medical, dental, and clinic front desk
Five-to-twenty hourly admin staff at a single-practice or small-group clinic — front-desk receptionists, schedulers, insurance/billing clerks. Each practice location is a job site with its own geofence. Office manager approves the week, hands the export to the billing service or in-house payroll.
Multi-office professional services
Small law firm with two satellite offices, an insurance agency with three locations, a property management company managing several buildings — hourly office staff across multiple sites, all on one Punch org. Each office is a job site. Owner sees the whole portfolio; office managers see their own location.
FAQ
Questions, answered.
- Does Punch work for salaried employees?
- Punch supports salaried employees in the system, but most of the value lives in the hourly workflow — clock-in, clock-out, overtime, payout per pay period. If your whole office is salaried, time-tracking software in general adds limited value; Punch is most useful when the office mix includes hourly W-2 staff who need accurate weekly or bi-weekly hour totals for payroll.
- Does Punch handle remote or hybrid workers?
- Partially. Punch supports web punches in addition to the iPhone app, which works for remote staff. But the geofence enforcement is location-specific — if you require staff to be on-premises to punch in, a remote worker can't punch from home. The org-level geofence setting can be turned off if your team mixes on-site + remote; the trade-off is you lose the location-honest punch guarantee.
- Does Punch handle project or billable-hour tracking?
- No. Punch is shift-based time tracking, not project time tracking. If you need to attribute hours to specific client matters, project codes, or billable categories — keep your existing project tracker (Harvest, Toggl, Clockify, your billing software's time module). Punch tracks the labor side (hours + overtime + payroll); your project tool tracks the client-billing side.
- How does pricing work?
- Punch charges per organization, not per employee or per office. One subscription covers every location. Crew tier (up to 5 employees, owner free) is $9.99 a month — a strong fit for the typical small-business office. Team tier (up to 10) is $19.99. Company tier (up to 20) is $34.99. Premier (up to 50) is $69.99. Scale (up to 100) is $129.99. The full grid lives on the pricing page. Annual plans save about two months.
- Can I try Punch before paying?
- Yes. Every new org gets a 14-day free trial automatically — no card required, no sales call. Create your org on the web or in the iOS app, add your office's address, invite your office manager, and you're punching in within a couple minutes. After 14 days, pick a monthly or annual plan or cancel.
